Details
The shape of the new governments of Eastern Europe was largely decided through negotitations around tables. The Polish and Czechoslovak round-tables were rectangles, the East German tables often sqaures. The Hungarian opposition was itself a round table, so when it met with government and other civic instituitions it did so trianguarly. The famous, seven month dispute over the configuration of the delegations at the Vietnam peace conference in Paris was finally resolved by two large semi-circular tables separated by a kind of trench.
