Introduction 

1. These terms and conditions (“Terms”) apply to the use of all National Theatre Gift Cards in store and online. 

2. "National Theatre", “NT”, "we" or "us" refers to National Theatre Enterprises Limited, a company incorporated in England and Wales with company number 01247285 whose registered office is at Upper Ground, London SE1 9PX. National Theatre Enterprises Limited is the trading subsidiary of the Royal National Theatre, a charity registered in England and Wales with registered charity numbers 224223. 

3. "You" refers to the purchaser and/or the recipient of the NT Gift Card. 

4. Please read these Terms carefully before purchasing or using an NT Gift Card as, by doing so, you accept that these Terms will govern purchase and use of the NT Gift Card. 

5. We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time without notice.We will make the current Terms available on the NT’s website at Terms & Conditions Information – National Theatre Shop. Please check to ensure you comply with the current Terms.

What can you use an NT Gift Card for?

6. NT Gift Cards can be redeemed in the NT bookshop or NT online shop at https://shop.nationaltheatre.org.uk

7. You cannot use an NT Gift Card to purchase tickets to productions or events at the NT, NT memberships, NT at Home Subscriptions, NT Live tickets, food and drinks at the NT catering outlets,or “play in the post” subscriptions. You also cannot use an NT Gift Card to purchase another gift card.

8. Please note that some items available for sale on https://shop.nationaltheatre.org.uk may not be purchased by persons under a specified age. If you are planning to give an NT Gift Card to someone under 18 years of age, please ensure that they are made aware that some products are unavailable to them.

How does the NT Gift Card work?

9. NT Gift Cards can be purchased in the NT bookshop or NT online shop at https://shop.nationaltheatre.org.uk. The name and email address provided at purchase should be that of the intended recipient. It is your responsibility to ensure that the name and email address of the NT Gift Card recipient entered at our till in the NT bookshop or on the NT online shop is correct. When purchasing in store the staff will check the information is correct at the point of purchase with you. The NT will NOT be responsible for the incorrect delivery of NT Gift Cards due to an error by you (such as, a mis-typed address).

10. If you are using your NT Gift Card and the amount of your purchase is less than the value on your NT Gift Card, any balance will remain on your NT Gift Card and may be applied to future purchases, provided that the NT Gift Card has not expired. We won’t give you change, nor will we exchange the balance for cash.

11. If you are using your NT Gift Card and the amount of your purchase exceeds the amount of the NT Gift Card, the balance must be paid for with another payment method. 

12. The NT Gift Card cannot be exchanged for cash and has no cash equivalent value.  

13. The NT Gift Card cannot be topped up. It can only be credited once and cannot be reloaded. 

14. If an item purchased using an NT Gift Card is refunded or exchanged for an item of lower value, this will be refunded back onto a new gift card.

15. Purchase of an unused NT Gift Card itself is subject to our standard refund policy. You have a right to cancel an unused NT Gift Card within 14 days of purchase. An NT Gift Card cannot be refunded once it has been used (in whole or in part).

Lost or stolen Gift Cards

16. Please take care of your NT Gift Card and treat it like cash. We are not responsible for lost or stolen gift cards or for funds used on the NT Gift Card without your knowledge. 

17. In the NT’s absolute discretion, we may refuse to accept damaged NT Gift Cards or any NT Gift Card which we suspect has been stolen, duplicated, tampered with or which otherwise is suspected to be affected by fraud. 

NT Gift Card Validity

18. Your NT Gift Card is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and is not transferable.  After 12 months, we will not refund any balance remaining and will invalidate the gift card. NT Gift Cards cannot be extended. 

19. You can check your balance in person at the NT Bookshop or online. 

20. You may not resell your NT Gift Card.

General

22. Data Processing: When you purchase an NT Gift Card, we may collect, use, store and disclose your personal details or the personal details of the NT Gift Card recipient (if different) that you provide in accordance with our privacy policy below, and the main National Theatre privacy policy, which can be accessed from the National Theatre website homepage. 

 23. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. 

24. We have no liability for any default resulting directly or indirectly from any cause beyond our reasonable control, such as the failure of network services and/or the failure of payment or processing systems. To the extent permitted by law, all conditions or warranties implied by law, statue or otherwise are expressly excluded. 

25. Nothing in these Terms affect your rights at law (for instance, under the Consumer Rights Act of 2015). Please see the Citizens Advice website at citizensadvice.org.uk for more details.
