General Product Safety Regulation

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is a set of European Union (EU) rules that ensure consumer products are safe. The regulation came into effect in December 2024 and applies to all EU member states and Northern Ireland.

As a requirement of GPSR, businesses must designate a responsible person within the EU, for each product being sold and delivered to the EU. This is to ensure all products meet safety requirements.

Please see below information regarding product groups and how to identify responsible people for each product.

Books/playtexts

For books the EU representative is usually the publisher or authorised agent. Contact details for EU representatives are provided within the book or its packaging. For most titles, this information is provided on the imprint page of the book.

If you have any questions regarding product safety or you need assistance in contacting the authorised EU representative for a book or play you have purchased, please contact us.
