Read plays written by Black British, African and Caribbean playwrights each month with our Black Plays Archive Play Subscription. 

Each play sent as part of your subscription are represented in the Black Plays Archive; an online catalogue of the first professional production in the UK of Black British, African and Caribbean playwrights. The BPA is managed by the National Theatre's Archive team, but it includes historical work and productions from theatres across the UK.

Please note, the plays in the product image are not necessarily ones you'll receive throughout your subscription. We send out a different play each month, chosen expertly by one of the bookshop team in collaboration with the Black Plays Archive team. 

1. Choosing your subscription

We offer a bespoke monthly subscription service on our fiction, poetry, play and National Theatre play titles.

Each subscription can be purchased for either 3, 6 or 12 months.

Each subscription title is expertly chosen by our knowledgeable booksellers.

2. Choosing your delivery method

Delivery costs are a one off fee charged when you purchase a subscription. This charge covers all monthly postage costs throughout the duration of your subscription. Please see our delivery costs here.

UK customers get free shipping on orders over £100.

We offer a free click and collect service to pick up your subscription in store each month.

3. Receiving your subscription

On purchasing a subscription, you will receive a welcome pack in the post.

You will receive your first title at the start of the next new month. We send out our subscriptions at the start of every month.

If you opted to collect in store, we will email you each month when your subscription is ready to collect. Please show this email to our team upon collection.

4. Renewing your subscription

Our subscriptions do not auto-renew.

If you enjoyed receiving your monthly subscription and would like it to continue, you will need to re-purchase the subscription on our online shop.

Please note, due to GPSR, we are unable to include our small gifts that are part of our usual subscriptions to customers in Europe and Northern Ireland.
