Hepworth Wakefield Gallery

Hepworth Gallery Wakefield was designed by architect David Chipperfield primarily to house the Hepworth collection, it opened in 2011. Chipperfield won an architectural design competition organised by RIBA. His design is outstanding and was shortlisted for the Stirling prize in 2012.

 

Created by Chisel & Mouse, who like to make "beautiful models of cool architecture". Hand made in their farm workshop in rural West Sussex, using a mixture of modern techniques of 3D design and printing, as well as traditional techniques of moulding and casting.

 

Each of their architectural sculptures is handmade in a studio in Sussex, England. They are made of strong plaster that has a reassuring weight and smooth, cool feel. The window frames and door are made of etched brass. Stylish ornaments, gifts or presents that are handmade in Britain and look fabulous on a desk, shelf or wall.
